Put yourself first – 4 questions to ask

Are you such a person who puts everything and everyone in the first place, only puts himself behind? It’s easy to forget how important it is when everything around you requires your attention and participation. As selfish as it may sound, putting some of your desires and goals first makes you a better person, and it will also have a positive impact on the people around you.


Stop and ask yourself: What do I want?

            At this time of the year, we are preparing to celebrate and summarize our relationships and achievements, which has brought us this year and reevaluate everything. This is also the perfect opportunity to take a look into our soul, so listen and ask yourself:

  1. Am I proud of myself?

  2. Am I a better person?

  3. Am I happier than at the beginning of the year?

  4. Did I put myself first?

It’s okay to pause for a moment and focus on yourself. Listen to what your body and mind tell you to do and act accordingly.


How can I put myself first?

It’s easy to be influenced by the world around us. Too often we allow others to dictate what we should and should do, but in the long run it is very difficult to make everyone happy at their own expense. This is harmful to our self-esteem.

Here are a few things that you can do today with minimal effort but that will almost immediately have an amazing effect:

  • Tell others what you want

You can not always be the person who fulfills all wishes. It is sometimes good to tell people what you want and think. Let the others know what your point of view is.

  • Listen to what your body says

Your gut feeling is not lying. Our body often says things that are good for us. The body usually knows better, which is good for us.

  • Do not feel guilty for saying NO

No saying can be hard. But this NO can make you more human than YES. It shows greatness when someone clearly knows what he wants and what he does not.

  • Your job can sometimes wait too

Jobs are stressful and many people are too focused on their work. The work can distract us from many good things. Spend more time with friends and family, but most importantly, find time for yourself.

  • Get enough sleep

After a night without good sleep, we usually feel like slain. Concentrating is difficult, our eyes are burning and the mood is not the best either. We are stressed and unproductive. The lack of sleep also affects our appearance. Not enough that dark circles and thick bags tell us – our skin ages faster. So, get enough sleep to avoid bad things.

It’s alright to start with just one of the suggestions we mention here, but the most important thing is that you start today. As clichéd as it sounds, each journey begins with the first step, and the same goes for the journey of putting yourself first.

You can start by treating yourself to something beautiful. Something that will help you to put yourself first in your everyday life and allow you to not worry about unimportant things like finding your keys. Treat yourself to a finder and never worry about lost things!
